Standing On My Own.

We'll skip the part of the story where I go through 8 years of abusive relationships. If people would like to know, I will share. But, for the time-being, we'll fast-forward.

To today.

Today, I am creating a place where I can share my thoughts and experiences, as they relate to un-learning a lifetime of toxic thought processes. As with breaking any habit or addiction, I cannot merely erase or throw out these negative beliefs. I have to replace them with empowering ones.

As children, many of us learn that we are of worth through receiving the approval of our parents. I was no different. I constantly sought the approval of my father.

But, today, I realize that my own worth does not rely upon the approval of a father -- divine, mortal, or otherwise.

And so, my journey begins.
